The map

One map for everything you’ve done.

Every activity, saved route, place and photo lands on the same map — the one with all the little footpaths, from OpenStreetMap.

  • Tracks coloured by sport. Walks and hikes blue, rides orange, runs teal. Routes are dashed, so you see at a glance what you did and what you still want to do.
  • Photos where you took them. Remember which trail had that view.
  • It stays readable. Walks that follow nearly the same path are grouped, so years of activities don’t turn into spaghetti.
  • Your friends’ favourite spots. Turn on the friends layer to see the photos and routes they share with you.

Activities & routes

Plan it, walk it, find it again.

Keep a library of routes you want to walk, take them with you, and see how often you went back.

  • A route library with folders. Upload a GPX or turn one of your activities into a route.
  • Take it on your watch. Download the GPX for your Garmin or other GPS device.
  • Get to the start. One tap opens Google Maps with directions to the trailhead.
  • Walks find their route. Walk a saved route and the activity is linked to it — when, how often, and what you thought of it.

Imported activities are visible to you only — Strava’s and Garmin’s terms don’t allow showing them to others. Activities you record in Waymark or upload yourself can be shared.

Ask your AI assistant

Waymark speaks MCP. Connect Claude or another assistant and ask about your walks, find routes nearby or add a place — in plain language.

Privacy

You decide who sees what.

Pick a default for activities, routes and photos — Everyone, Friends or Only me — and make an exception for any single item.

  • Hide where you live. Privacy zones cut your track around home or work for everyone but you.
  • Start and end stay yours. Others never see the first and last 200 m of your activities.
  • Photos lose their location inside a privacy zone, and the copy friends see has no camera metadata.
  • Leave whenever you want. Export your data or delete your account from Settings.

Privacy zones

Privacy zones cut nearby points out of everything others see — the usual pick is a few hundred meters around home. Center the map on the spot before adding a zone.

Active share links

Anyone with one of these links can view the item, with your privacy zones cut out. Revoke what you no longer want out there.

Notifications

Choose what shows under the bell, here and in the app, and what the Waymark app on your phone notifies you of. Android also asks once whether Waymark may notify you.

What your feed shows

The same switches as on the Feed page. They are kept on the server, so the app shows the same feed.

Strava

Connect your Strava account via OAuth. Your Garmin activities will sync automatically to Strava if you have that set up in Garmin Connect.

You need a free Strava API application. Create one at strava.com/settings/api and add STRAVA_CLIENT_ID and STRAVA_CLIENT_SECRET to your .env file.

Garmin

Waymark reads your activities straight from Garmin Connect with a personal API key. Create one at Garmin Connect › Personal API key, copy it (Garmin shows it only once) and paste it here. Waymark stores it encrypted and never shows it again.

The newest activities, now

Garmin activities are visible only to you for now. An activity you already have — from Strava or recorded in the app — is linked, not stored twice.

API tokens

Tokens give apps and AI clients access to your Waymark data without your password. A token is shown only once, right after you create it. Revoke anything you no longer use.
